The purpose of The Joy of Summerville is to celebrate life, encourage awesomeness and to document and share stories of my life as a woman, mother, wife, teacher, beauty addict, sister, daughter, stylish, smart, fun and empowered human. I want to share my stories and offer you a place where you are celebrated. Hopefully while reading you will feel empowered by your connection to the universe.
Sometimes my posts are serious, sometimes they are silly but more importantly they provide for me an opportunity to be creative and figure out what I am doing with my life all while shopping and making myself up. Life is amazing.
It’s Fall Y’all!
Fall has (almost) arrived accompanied by Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas. In Charleston with the storm came a pleasant breeze and a dull cool rain, a teasing preview of the cooler temperatures to come. During the storm I spent some of my time playing with my Fall wardrobe between dancing and fort building with Enzo and Elsa, watching Football, and doing house projects.
Fab Fall Skirts for Under 30 Dollars
I love adding one (but prefer adding ten) pieces to my wardrobe each season that are versatile and changes the vibe of an entire outfit with little effort and an abundance of style. These Fall skirts provide color pallets and textures that quietly say goodbye to smoldering Charleston nights and hello to serene Saturday mornings spent watching College Game Day before heading to the Summerville Farmer’s Market.
Denim High Wasted Skirt (Here) is versatile and stylish for an afternoon strolling or casual office. Can be worn with cute boots, tights and flats, clogs or sandals if you are still between the summer heat and cool crispness of Fall. The high waist keeps it a little less Duggar (I actually love the Duggars…Jinger is my Favorite!!) Oh, and did I mention it has pockets? You had me at pockets.
Blush Pink …or Yellow…or Gray? Ready to show off those legs? This faux suede mini will slay for lunch with friends, cocktail hour or Date night. I love the asymmetry and the pocket on this unique skirt for Fall. I also like the yellow and Gray options that make it less pretty and more coolgirl.
Yesterday Vince brought me home a sugar cinnamon glazed doughnut and instantly took me back to apple picking and picking out our pumpkins before walking thru the TeePee’s at Powers Farm Market in Pittsford NY. Once while riding to the mountains with my Aunt Sarah, Uncle Peter, Emily and PD and I got carsick after eating 6 of those delicious things. Thankfully that memory was distant enough (a few decades will do that) to not ruin the deliciousness of that doughnut!
What sounds, sights and scents bring you the sweet cool memories of Fall?
Sending love to you and yours from sunny Summerville SC,
